President’s Message- Serge Micheli, March 28, 2013
Dear Members,
The theme for this issue of Forum focuses on volunteer management. I am sure many of you work closely with volunteers in your daily management of associations, and I am sure many of you serve as volunteers. I encourage fellow members to read the articles in this issue that will cover many of the challenges and opportunities we share in managing or providing a service to the association community.
Our CSAE Trillium Chapter currently has over 80 members volunteering on committees and events. Working alongside our Executive Director, Tracy Blyth, CAE, these volunteers help to make our chapter vital, relevant and engaging! A perfect example of this team work was evident from the highly successful Winter Summit held in Niagara Falls on Feb. 7th and 8th, 2013.
In addition to the volunteers that serve on the chapter pillar committees, we have a strong chapter Board of Directors. Each director has a portfolio that links to all of the pillar committees. I am very impressed with the work of our directors, committee members, and our Executive Director; all of whom work hard to ensure the key strategies are maintained to deliver amazing events, education, communication and member networking.
Trillium Chapter’s President-elect, Joan Lee, CAE and I attended the CSAE National Leaders Forum in Ottawa on Jan. 23rd. This Leaders Forum provided us with an opportunity to meet with all of the volunteer presidents and vice-presidents from the various CSAE chapters across Canada, as well as the CSAE National Board of Directors. Joan and I were also involved in the strategic planning session held during the Leaders Forum that will eventually be unveiled to all CSAE members through the national office.
In keeping with appreciating our volunteers, the chapter will once again honour our volunteers at the April lunch ‘n learn, on April 23 at the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel. Please mark your calendars and join us for this lunch ‘n learn that will provide all of us an opportunity to network with one another, share ideas, discuss challenges and create opportunities.
I look forward to seeing everyone. If you would like to discuss association management or volunteering for the chapter, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly via phone or email.
Serge Micheli, CAE, CEM
