Interested in Becoming a Mentor? Check this out!
Do you have an interest in mentoring young professionals? Are you willing to make a short term investment in a young professional that could make a difference over the long term? Well then we have the opportunity for you.
Building on the CSAE culture of innovation and experimentation, CSAE-TC is planning to implement a Mentorship Pilot Program. We are currently seeking 20 senior and senior-intermediate Association Executive members who would agree to participate as a mentor. You will benefit by contributing to the professional development of an association executive at the start of their career as well as by giving back to your professional community. You will also learn from the interaction with a younger or less experienced professional and gain insights into other generations. Finally, we anticipate that one of the outcomes will be a mutual trust and respect and shared interest as a result of the experience.
This is a short term commitment of four months where you and your protégé meet at mutually convenient places and times. i.e. coffee shop, office, etc. “Ground rules” are circulated to both parties ahead of time so that both have clear expectations of the relationship.
At the end of the four-month commitment, we will evaluate the experiment. Our hope is that it will be a positive experience and that this will be a template for other chapters across Canada.
Once we have 20 mentors, we will then begin recruiting protégés.
