INVOLVEMENT – LEADERSHIP – INNOVATION – ACHIEVEMENT

CSAE Trillium Chapter is pleased to share the achievements of our members. The recipients of the Trillium Chapter’s 2015 Awards were announced on September 17th.   These 6 individuals are all outstanding in their commitment to the CSAE Trillium Chapter and we invite you to join us in celebrating their awards.

Chapter Service Excellence Award

The Chapter Service Excellence Award recognizes a colleague or volunteer who, throughout their career, has demonstrated significant contribution and commitment to CSAE and the profession of Association Management or has made significant contributions in support of Association Management. Recipients of this award are those who have provided leadership, great ideas and inspiration.

2015 Chapter Service Excellence Award – Executive Member
Serge Micheli, CAE, CEM, Association and Events Management
Since joining CSAE in 1992 Serge Micheli has contributed his talents to many committees. Serge joined the Trillium Chapter Board of Directors in 2010 and became President in 2012.Serge continues to volunteer on the membership committee, was instrumental in revitalizing our volunteer recruitment program, and also is an active participant on the audit and the nominating committees.Oh yes, and he is a great membership ambassador for the Chapter and we love working with him!  

 

2015 Chapter Service Excellence Award – Business Member
Sandra Polson, London Convention Centre
No less than 8 letters of support were submitted for Sandy’s nomination to receive this award. It was abundantly clear to the judging panel that she is well-loved and well-respected by her peers.One of the letters of support described how she took a new member under her wing, introduced her to other members and invited her to sit at her table. It was through this interaction that the member then became involved with the Trillium Chapter. “If it wasn’t for Sandy, I might never have come back to another Chapter event”. Sandy is an amazing Membership Ambassador, having served on the membership committee for years and years.  

Chapter Emerging Talent Award

The Chapter Emerging Talent Award recognizes one Executive Member and one Business Member, who, within the first five years of the members’ careers in the association sector, or within the first five years of CSAE membership, has demonstrated remarkable promise as future leaders in the association sector.

2015 Chapter Emerging Talent Award – Executive Member
Michael Dargavel, CEM,  Association and Events Management
Michael served as the Chair of the 2015 Summer Summit and uses his skill in meeting and exposition management to allow him to be creative and innovative in the planning and execution of meetings, conventions and tradeshows.He pioneered the teaching of the CEM (Certified in Exposition Management) courses here in Canada. Prior to him becoming the first Canadian faculty member, instructors had to be flown in from the US to provide education for the CEM accreditation. Thanks to his leadership there are now 6 qualified faculty from Canada.  
2015 Chapter Emerging Talent Award – Business Member
Cheryl Gateman, Dolce International Supporting BMO Financial Group Institute for Learning
Cheryl became a member of CSAE in 2012 and immediately became involved as a Trillium Chapter volunteer. She has been on the PDX Committee for 3 years, currently serving as Chair and was also a member of the speaker selection committee for the summer summit.Her years of experience have given her valuable expertise.  She is generous with her ideas, modest about her achievements and eager to learn from others. And as of September 17, 2015, we are happy to welcome her to the Trillium Chapter Board of Directors.  

President’s Award

The President’s Award is granted at the discretion of the Chapter President to recognize and celebrate a Trillium Chapter Member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Joan Lee, CAE, Direct Sellers Association
Joan has been involved with the Chapter for many, many years, serving on a number of committees including membership, PDX, audit, nominating and summer summit. She was a member of the Chapter board for 9 years, notably as treasurer for 2 years and of course as President!“Joan Lee is one of the most affable people I know” says Past President Rozalyn Werner-Arce. Always ready with a warm smile and a twinkle in her eye, Joan has been a great source of advice, guidance and support over this past year. Just because she was Past President didn’t mean that she sat back and enjoyed the title, she continued to serve the board and the membership meaningfully.  

Circle of Distinction Award
The Circle of Distinction Award recognizes an outstanding volunteer who has provided exceptional leadership and exemplary service to the Trillium Chapter over a sustained period of time. The award recipient is chosen by the Trillium Chapter Board of Directors

2015 Circle of Distinction Award
Edward Barisa, CAE, Ontario Real Estate Association
Leadership begins at the top and permeates throughout this association. Ed Barisa, has been supporting the Trillium Chapter for well over a decade.Ed won the Chapter Excellence Award in 2008, has encouraged numerous of his staff to complete their CAE programs, encourages staff members to volunteer with CSAE and other associations, has supported the Trillium Chapter through sponsorship and education and has hosted numerous Trillium Chapter committee meetingsAnd let’s not forget his time as Chair of CSAE. Ed is a well-deserving recipient indeed and we are so very fortunate to have him in our Chapter. There is no CEO more loved by his staff than this man.
