With MC Diana Swain, CBC Journalist
Sponsored by:  The Lavin Agency (use logo) and picture of Diana (will send)

A warm, gracious, and intelligent speaker, Diana Swain challenges audience members to ask themselves what they’re doing to enhance, and develop, our country. We all call Canada home, but what does it mean to be a Canadian? How can each of us make it an even better place to live? Swain discusses Canadians’ views of each other, dissolves stereotypes about various regions, reports on how we’re viewed abroad, and reveals the truth—the millions of little truths—about how our country really works. Her talk is sweeping and diverse. But it’s also unifying. It helps us re-evaluate each of our roles in this country, as well as our country’s role in the world. What we do now—including, but not limited to, caring for the environment—will shape the Canada we leave behind for our children.

Diana Swain—a Gemini winner for Best News Anchor—has established herself in the proud but select tradition of great CBC broadcasters. A veteran journalist and national celebrity, Swain is currently CBC News’ Senior Investigative Correspondent, an alternate anchor of The National and is a frequent contributor to the network’s flagship investigative program, the fifth estate. She was recently awarded a Canadian Hillman Prize for her work on the estate.

Diana Swain is the former host of CBC’s flagship local news show, CBC News at Six Toronto, as well as a former co-host for CBC News: Disclosure and Sunday Report. For her broadcast work, Swain has won the prestigious B’Nai Brith Canada Prize for human rights reporting, is a two-time Gold Medal winner at the New York Festivals, and is a two-time winner of the Michener Award, for public service in journalism.
